Borough President tweeding deal in the works

From Crains:

In the race to become the next Queens borough president, the two most logical contenders to get the crucial support of the Queens Democratic organization would be Councilman Leroy Comrie and state Sen. Jose Peralta.

In recent weeks, several Queens sources have told The Insider about the possibility of Mr. Peralta getting the county organization’s backing, with the deputy borough president to be Mr. Comrie, who would line up political support in southeast Queens for Mr. Peralta.

Mr. Comrie, who heads the Queens delegation on the City Council, has a tight relationship with the county organization. But he has struggled to raise money, causing insiders to question his viability. Mr. Peralta also has a good relationship with the county organization, and as a former organizer for the Central Labor Council is a strong contender for the Working Families Party endorsement. So it’s possible the county organization could back Mr. Peralta over Mr. Comrie.

“One factor is closeness to county. The other is viability. Joe Crowley wants to win,” said one Queens insider, referring to the congressman who chairs the county organization.

Hey Joe, throw this outrageous factor into your equation as you contemplate the birds in your back yard in ol' Virginny:

the people want to be served good government.

If the Dem machine supports them...then they have to be crooks!

One thing for sure...they will rubber stamp ANY developers' plans to further destroy Queens' quality of life.

WE DON"T NEED BOROUGH PRESIDENTS!

They REPRESENT developers.
Their office DOES NOT serve their constituents' needs!

The simp and the blimp....can't Queens get anything good and right??

I want Joe Crowley to lose - do the opposite folks!

Comrie is obese enough. He doesn't need to be fattened up anymore with developers' cash in his pockets!

Joe Crowley imbedded himself in a "win-win" situation.
He'll never be pried lose...short of a federal conviction!

Good question, even better is when will the black and Hispanic caucus rise up and take them out of power?

Simple, the aforementioned used and use "Irish diplomacy" For example, they tell you that you can go to Hell and you look forward to the trip.

Isn't Melinda Katz running for BP?

Anon No. 13: Yes. This could be a fun primary.

Don't forget the Vallonian Candidate. Rumored to have the largest war chest by all the wallyos.

Rumor has it he is running on his record as the Public Safety Chair.

People in his district have faith in that regard: they say he is collecting food for the hurricane victims!

Outstanding.

TONY AVELLA FOR BOROUGH PRESIDENT!

Peter Vallone and Melinda Katz are far more accomplished than both of these morons. Comrie clearly does not care about his personal appearance, seems lethargic and absent minded and Peralta is a self absorbed mouth piece, empty suit and Fordham Law drop out. Couldn't handle 1L, eh Jose?

While I agree that the Borough President position should be abolished, so long as it exists, we should elect the most capable candidates. Maybe they can actually do something decent with the office.

If Crowley is going to sabotage Vallone and/or Katz, then we should find another outlet for them to serve us. This "tweeding" to the bottom has to stop. In 10 years tweeders with an IQ of 60 will be representing us if Crowley has his way.

And I suppose the following credentials:
no care for personal appearance, seems lethargic, absent minded, self absorbed mouth piece, empty suit and law school school dropout

+ elected legislative official

+ unable to raise funds even though considered to be favored at some level by the county org

=

PERFECTLY QUALIFIES both Comrie and Peralta for the Queens Borough Presidency.

I stand corrected! Tweeders of the World Rejoice! We have come to expect so little from our elected representatives that this position in itself has served to elect the most unimpressive leaders: Manes, Shulman, Marshall.

True, one voted to overturn term limits and helped the mayor to a third term and the other carries the sperm of Curtis Sliwa.

I leave you, dear reader, to puzzle which description fits which candidate.
