Sanitation agents busted writing bad tickets

From CBS 2:

Local lawmakers are accusing some New York City sanitation agents of fraud and perjury.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind and Sen. Jeff Klein said three agents were caught on surveillance video in Brooklyn issuing homeowners tickets for violations they did not commit.

“If we know about these three false tickets, I can only imagine how many more cases of fraud there must be,” Hikind said.

click the CBS link....read the comments at the end of text.

and you will know why the Queens homeowners who observed the D.O.S. employees "plowing " our snow filled streets with the shovel up , did not come forward personally, last winter.

shame, shame ,shame .where is a honest dem. pol. who will stop this public union culture of corruption ?

When the "Three Sanitation Workers" come forward and prove their existence.

Please explain how the union is involved. I don't doubt that there isn't corruption in any of the civic institutions in this case, but I've seen no evidence that this was a union activity, or that the "Halloran slowdown" ever took place. But I'm willing to listen to evidence, etc., and then make up my own mind.

That said, it does look like there is a problem in sanitation. Retaliation is very serious and the fraud in this case must be rendered as criminal.

In my experience as a union member, my own union often blasted messages that amount to "be detail-oriented and observant of the rules" (so as to not present a bad image and/or not cede the higher ground). I cannot speak for all unions, of course.

Of course developers and absentee landlords can leave a shithouse in the middle of the block month after month and nothing happens.

The city goes after the weak and powerless - Archie and Edith types.

Add to elevator inspectors, crane inspectors, building inspectors, the sanitation agents -- public employees about whom we don't believe there are merely a few "bad apples" -- we just believe they are all corrupt.

Whenever I see a DOS worker cruising/walking (like they even bother to take their lazy fat ass out of the car) down my block on garbage day I go sit on my front porch with my camera. You should see how fast they take off when they see me with the camera. That's also one of the reasons I put my garbage out right before they come. I usually go to work after they pick up. So when I hear them around the block I run out and put my garbage out. Most times my neighbors who put the garbage out early the day before get tickets at night when they are sleeping because the sneaky cowardly DOS bastards don't have to face anyone...

Ahh but a DOT worker was outed

Proposing legislation that would require agents to click a photo and upload it with every summons issued so there is evidence of a violation

Sounds like something that should be done with the NYPD to prevent their fabrication tactics of false arrest.

I got one of these violations in Ozone Park. I am done. My house is for sale, I am leaving NYC. I feel sorry for those in my generation of under 40 that is left to pay for and clean up the mess from our predecessors. I can not afford to pay for my own retirement AND fund the retirement of all these public employees through ridiculous fines, fees and taxes. Ciao

The city needs money..and they are just doing what they can to get it.. My mother 86 got a ticket on Saturday here in Queens. The ticket reads: I DID OBSERVE LARGE PIEVES OF STYROFOAM IMPROPERLY PLACED IN A RECYCLING CONTAINER DESIGNED FOR CARDBOARD, PLACED OUT FOR COLLECTION...OK PROBLEM THIS WAS COMPLETELY MADE UP!.. WE DO NOT HAVE A RECYCLE CONTAINER! WE HAVE ONE GARBAGE CAN WITH REGULAR GARBAGE THAT GOES OUT TO THE CURB.. CARDBOARD IS ALWAYS TIED AND CANS AND BOTTLES ALWAYS IN CLEAR PLASTIC BAG!!!.. The best part is the day the ticket was issued I did not even put out recycle because there was not enough to put out.. So here I go to try and appeal it and I cant because apparently I was told the ticket is NOT in the system and will not be in for 2 to 3 weeks.. they make it impossible..So people get fed up and then just pay it.. its WRONG.. They should take photos to show the violations!.. The best part is the STREET is Littered with Garbage..but Nothing is done AND THATS OK.. Oh wait the STREET belongs to the city...
