Third time's not a charm for GOP

From the Daily News:

Mayor Bloomberg came to a Queens banquet hall Sunday like a man looking to woo a lover he once spurned, sweet-talking a roomful of Republicans to take him back.

It didn't work.

While Bloomberg was mobbed by well-wishers, and his 10-minute speech about the state of the city was greeted with warm applause, party leaders at the banquet said it wasn't enough to win him a spot on the Republican line in the fall election for the third time.

"We didn't invite him. He invited himself," said Phil Orenstein, one of the Queens Village Republican Club's board members. Officially, Bloomberg was at the club's dinner simply to greet the schoolchildren who won an Abraham Lincoln essay contest, Orenstein said.

The mayor's reception at a Manhattan event later Sunday was not much warmer. Hundreds of revelers enjoying kosher sushi and beef at a fund-raising dinner for the Ohel Children's Home continued to chatter as Bloomberg addressed the crowd.

The noise level was so high - and the shushing by organizers so frequent - that Bloomberg interrupted his speech to comment on it.

He isnt wanted anywhere except maybe the most wanted list of Wall St. crooks who should be under investigation. Still waiting for those genius plans he had for the economy in NYC\state. Just as Ford said in the 1970's, "drop dead"!

The NY Post quotes Phil Ragusa saying: "He has a lot of issues he has to address." "And I don't think the regular Republicans are ready to endorse."

This tough guy Ragusa did not rule out any endorsement. He's simply waiting, with puckered lips, to see the Commissar's money. That's called "addressing the issues" in the spineless party.

Bet on this: Ragusa and the other county chairmen will endorse this Democrat/Republican/Independent and now wannabe Republican because he is a great ___?

A great what? Taxer and spender!

"King" Bloomberg unwanted? HA!
This thrifty "business" clown went against everything a democracy stands for by trying to get himself a third term, and using the city's fiscal problems as a guise saying he's the best man for the job.

Maybe we've had enough of you "Honest Mike".
Maybe the city needs someone who cares about the people not just numbers and dollar signs.

Not gonna happen!

Ford never said "drop dead". The Daily News published a front page headline: "Ford to City Drop Dead".
Ha-ha-ha, it was a "clever" headline writer's twist on what had happened.

Yes Im aware of that. He didnt give any federal money to the city and NYC paid for it dearly. It probably wasnt funny back then as it wont be again soon.

Actually, Ford reversed his stance on bailing NYC out, and the money came a month later.

Those who run the Republican Party in NYS, NYC and Queens should all be replaced just like Michael Steele has done on the national level. They have lost election after election running the same machine picked candidates. Soon not one elected Republican will come from Queens. How can you be in charge and not held accountable. Responsibly and accountably for your own achievement is the foundation of the Republican Party and these folks on top just ignore their failures as if they have nothing to do with it. It's time for them to step out of the way and give some new grassroots young republicans a chance. And please do not let Mr. Bloomberg back in.
