Queens crooks are embarrassing failures

From the NY Post:

A cross-dressing bank robber made off with next to nothing after he got all dolled up, police said yesterday.

The 5-foot-6, 130-pound man came wearing a black wig, hot pink jumpsuit, black trench coat and black sunglasses.

He sauntered up to a teller at the TD branch on Northern Boulevard near 72nd Street in Jackson Heights at 3:20 p.m. on Jan. 13, cops said.

He passed a note reading, "You know what this is. Put the money in a bag. No dye pack. Don't press the alarm."

The teller shoved shredded, unusable bills into a penny bag and handed it to the thief, who looked inside, said "this is not a lot of money" and fled the scene.

And also from the NY Post:

Two Queens crooks posing as filmmakers starred in a live remake of "Dumb and Dumber," trying to hawk a rented $72,000 movie camera rig on Craigslist for a fraction of the price, law-enforcement sources said.

But the hapless thieves - Omar Tineo, 23, and Robert Perez, 22 - wound up trying to sell the high-end digital camera to undercover cops, who spotted it online Wednesday and set up a sting, the sources said.

And let's not leave out our Mini-Madoff.

Well, the cross-dresser took "Queens" literally.

Hi, I'm from Queens.

Really, I thought you were from normal parents.

We have a tradition of criminal "Queens" in New York. The first British governor, Lord Cornbury dressed in women's clothes and invited all and sundry to examine his wife's shell-like ears--the finest in the land. He also swindled the respectable Dutch into having their children apply for positions as ladies in the governor's court, only to have the parents discover that the servants had all been discharged and their daughters would be working as charwomen. Ahh, political connections, graft, insanity, the tradition continues.
