Kirsten caves in

From the NY Times:

Kirsten E. Gillibrand, New York’s new senator, suggested to Latino elected officials on Sunday that she would take the lead on some immigration issues — and perhaps quickly drop some positions that they considered objectionable.

In particular, she promised to take a lead in promoting a Congressional bill to roll back a federal provision that discourages states from charging in-state tuition to the children of illegal immigrants who attend state-supported universities. The bill also would permit illegal immigrants who have grown up in the United States and are attending college to apply for legal status.

And despite her vote in Congress when she was a representative from upstate New York, Ms. Gillibrand said she no longer supported cracking down on so-called sanctuary cities like New York that fail to enforce all immigration laws.

How disappointing that she didn't stick to her guns (pun intended).

Kirsten, snookums, do indeed "stick to your guns" or Rep. Peter King (R) will whip your ass in 2 years.

This was a strategically stupid move by Patterson. This woman was elected in a majority Republican district up in the boonies and will now be replaced with a an actual Rep.

What, pray tell was he thinking?

As for Peter King etc, forget it. We aren't likely to elect -any- repub's to statewide office for the foreseeable future.

She's a phony just like the rest of them. No backbone--
And who does Councilman Diaz think he is?? Another shakedown artist like Rev Jackson. What a creep.
Get rid of them all NOW!!!

What did you expect - she courted the locals and catered to their issues and now that she is in the big leagues she must cater to the majority - which is illegals and their legal protectorate voters.

She should look them squarely in the face, with the cameras rolling, and state:

"I do not look at people as members of an ethic group, but as individuals whose best interests I am sworn to uphold.

I will not support any activity that is against the laws of this nation.

I would expect the same from any citizen of this country.

End of story."

This woman would have won reelection hands down and could have changed the tone of debate.

Its like dealing with developers and polticians.

If you show up and say "please sir", "may I sir", and look at your shoes you are wasting your time.

But then again, its so Queens.

Technically, she hasn't done ANYTHING yet, good or bad. Let's wait until she actually votes for or against something, or introduces a bill, or performs a legislative duty before we condemn or praise her.

Amen! What the hell is that person yalking about. The guy who favors using tax money to benefit already rich private companies and contractors to make a profit off a war when U.S. service men and Iraqi citizens are losing lives. Isnt that illegal to profit off misery such as war?

Kirstin caved in publicly so the illegal alien promoters would like her.

They already hate her. They will continue to hate her. And, to thank her for the public pander, they will set out to crush her in November.

Like terrorists, they are never placated. Never satisfied. Why bother to even acknowledge their existence?

Maybe, she too, sees Russia from her backyard!
